Y’all, it’s a cold and windy morning and Stanley is wedged into the corner of my chair sleeping while I type. He’s a wonderfully warm heater. I wish he was on my feet.
I want to talk to you about the blog.
I have nibbled around the edges of my life on this blog. Sometimes, I’ve taken big chunks out of it and shared them. I’m beginning to wonder, however, if I’ve reached the saturation point. Have I run out of things to say? Or, are the things I want to say too controversial? Or easily misunderstood?
I went back and looked at the blog statistics. I deleted all the blog posts prior to 2014, simply to make the website smaller. Since 2014 there have been about 1767 posts and 18,737 comments. I wish I knew how many there were since 2008, when I first started the blog.
Over the years I’ve wanted to quit three times, and actually said goodbye three times. Then, I came back. I’m not quitting now, but I am going on hiatus. I think it’s necessary to do that to decide if I want to continue the blog.
You see, it’s never been just a platform for me. Your comments have been what propels this blog. From the beginning you’ve been a huge part of it. I’ve always maintained that a reader brings at least 50% to a book experience. I think y’all bring at least 75% to the blog.
I will never forget how much you’ve helped me through the years, especially when Flash died. You were my support system and I’ll always be grateful for that.
I’m going on hiatus until January. Until then, I’m posting the Blog Books that I have. (Unfortunately, some of them were corrupted.) They’re fascinating, funny, and filled with insightful comments from all of you. They’re pdfs and some of them are big. Plus, I’m allowing comments on older posts if you want to comment. I am, however, turning off comments on this post. I know you understand why.
I will see you at the beginning of the year with a decision whether or not to continue the blog. Until then, I wish all of you a wonderful, warm, and fulfilling holiday season!
