I Hate Garbage Day

Okay, this is such a first world problem, but I detest a chore I have to do on Wednesdays and Thursdays – schlepping the full garbage container down to the curb and picking up the empty container the next day.

I hate, hate, hate this job because the dang thing is so heavy that it’s almost painful. My back doesn’t like it. My mood doesn’t like it. I get surly when I have to do it. In other words, I’m pretty much a baby about it.

Yesterday it rained like crazy and I didn’t take the container to the curb. I don’t when it rains because it’s slick on the driveway and I don’t want to fall down and go boom. But I could have taken it this morning because it isn’t raining. I’m telling myself that I don’t REALLY need to take the garbage out this week.

Y’all, when I said I was a baby about this, I mean I am a real kicking heels, screaming until face is red, tantrum having baby. I’m not the least bit adult about it. I would rather clean bathrooms all day long than to have to deal with the garbage.

Is there anything you hate to do around the house? Anything you’re kind of a baby about?

  1. We live in a two-level home which I am so ready to get rid of. Twice a month Mike works on a Saturday so it’s up to me to clean the house. I HATE bathrooms and baseboards. So, on those Saturdays that he works I get down right surly!

  2. Doing dishes! I despise doing dishes and yet have been doing them my entire life. There have even been times when I had no dishwasher and had to do every single piece by hand. Drying is part of the job so I hate that too. And it always seems that when it’s dishwashing time, everyone else disappears. My ex would cook some horrible mess of a meal on Sundays (he thought he was doing me a favor – HA!) and not only would the meal be unedible because he either oversalted it or burnt it but he thought that since he cooked, I should do the clean-up. Never understood how that worked since I did the other six meals for the week AND the clean-up. Although, clean-up, after I cook, is a lot easier since I clean as I go whereas he used to use every pot in the cabinet, every measuring cup and spoon, and the stovetop looked like something had exploded. He even melted one of my pot lids one time. I was not a happy camper.
I’d rather cook for me…simple, easy, and if I can get away with it, use a paper plate or paper towel to eat off. Laughing. I even drink straight from cans or bottles so I don’t have to wash a glass. Yes, I despise washing dishes. 🙂

  3. I hate taking out the garbage too. My can is on wheels, but I live on a steep hill and sometimes my can gets knocked over by the trash collector and they don’t get out to pick up the spilled trash, so I have to do it. Ugh.

  4. I don’t really hate any of the jobs I have to do around the house. I like to vacuum, mop the floor and wash dishes. I guess if I had to pick one job I dislike it would be cleaning the bathtub.

Karen if you have a person mow your lawn ask him to come on the day you put your garbage out and ask him to do it for you.
