Most of my books get translated into about seven languages because it’s HarperCollins’ global packaging. I’m always amazed at how the title and the cover goes through a metamorphosis.

Today’s example is priceless.

This is the American cover of The Scottish Duke:

This is the Italian cover of The Scottish Duke. (I’ve never seen a pose like this, frankly.)


Now for the title: Jealousies in the Shadow of the Walls.

I kid you not.

I do have veto power over both the title or the cover, but why? They want to sell books and they know a whole bunch more about their market than I do, so I normally approve everything.

I have to admit, though, that this one is amazing.
