The other day I was watching Cybil on Amazon prime. I loved that show when it first appeared, mainly because of Christine Baranksi.
I know she’s played in several TV dramas but I think she’s a wonderful comedic actress, too.
On this particular episode Cybil and Baranksi’s character were discussing the various stages of a woman’s life. They described them as:
The more I thought about it, the more I thought the writers might have gotten it right. Or maybe there’s one more stage between Cheerleader and Mother, especially nowadays when more and more women are waiting longer to have children. We might call it Femme Sole (in honor of the first mortgage paperwork I signed – it means Lone Female).
So the new listing would be:
Femme Sole (or Lone Female)
I find this a little difficult to admit, but I am in the Crone stage. Sigh. Of course, I’m putting the Crone stage as between 45 and … But the Crone stage is pretty cool because we’re supposed to impart wisdom to other women, be sage and wise, and ultimately respected.
Do you think the above stages are correct? Would you change any of the labels? Or add any?
