Lady Toni’s* comment about coffee.
I love my Keurig coffee maker, but I’m tired of spending a bloody fortune on k-cups. I finally tabulated my coffee addiction each month and it’s about $90.00 in k-cups. Hello? No, just no.
I have NO success with those fill your own k-cups with coffee, so something Toni said went ding-ding. She has a grind and brew coffee pot. So, I checked out a reasonably priced machine, bought it, and made my first pot of coffee about four days ago.
I’m in love.
- I thought I’d waste coffee. Nope. One pot is exactly how much I drink in the morning – about 3 large cups.
- I thought the coffee wouldn’t be strong enough. I’m using a brand of coffee called Kick Ass, so I don’t think that’s a problem.
- I thought it would be a disaster. Um, no. It’s easy, simple, quick, and kinda fun. Plus the clean up is EASY. I love easy cleanup.
I spent less for the coffeemaker than what I paid for the k-cups and I already had the coffee, so I’m breaking even right now. The price of the coffee is about $26 per bag and I’m calculating that one bag should last about one month. I’m keeping the Keurig for decaf and tea, but I think this is my coffee of choice from now on.
* Lady Toni is on Facebook. For Christmas her husband gave her 10 sq feet of land in Scotland and an accompanying title. She’s now Lady Toni of Glencoe. As I told her, now I can say I know the landed gentry.
