I almost have to crawl inside all the arms and legs of this machine. It’s called a recumbent elliptical, but I consider it an Iron Maiden.
I’ve been doing two sessions each day, for 30 minutes each, right beside Flash, who inherited my treadmill. It’s a lot easier on the knees in a way, but it takes no prisoners. At first, I didn’t believe the calorie counter, which said that I’m burning 450+ calories a session. But I’ve been on max intensity, so maybe it’s right. There are days when I feel every single calorie.
The thing weighs two hundred pounds. I bought it from Hest Fitness here in San Antonio instead of ordering it online and having to pay someone to put it together. The neat thing was that I saved a bunch of money that way. Who knew? The nice guys set it up right next to the treadmill, so I can feed Flash kibble every few minutes. He doesn’t have a problem with it, even with all its moving arms and legs, and trots next to me.
One of the nice things about the Iron Maiden is that the rhythm is smooth and not jarring.
Now, if I could only figure out how to enter and exit with a little more grace…
