Well, the blog and website are purring along now. I’ve learned oodles with a memory problem that developed out of thin air. Here’s my advice for people with WordPress.org sites.
1. Expect the unexpected. That’s pretty much a motto in my life. I forgot it in regards to my website. No more.
2. When you’re changing hosts, clean up your website completely. Frankly, I now think it’s better to start from scratch. Less crud.
3. Almost all plugins leave some stuff behind. If you try a plugin, then delete it, you’ve got stuff left over. And I try plugins and delete them ALL the time. Run Clean Options (a plugin that deletes all that stuff) once a month, along with Garbage Collector.
4, Learn code. Trust me, you’ll thank me for that piece of advice.
5. Ask for help if you’re in over your head. You’ll have to pay for it, but it’s worth it.
