I love watching Undercover Boss. I have to confess, I don’t always watch the whole show. I’ll start at the beginning and scroll to the end to see the reactions of the employees.
Another confession: I hated working in the corporate world. I just never fit in. I tried. I really, really tried, but I was always a tiger in a lamb suit and a square peg trying to shave my edges off in order to slide into a round hole. I was, frankly, miserable most of my corporate life, but I was a GOOD employee.
(Life is too short not to do what you love. I LOVE being a writer.)
Undercover Boss shows really good employees and really, really BAD employees.
I like that the good employees are rewarded.
So, what have I learned from watching Undercover Boss?
- everybody has a story
- be compassionate
- realize how hard other people work
- don’t reward people too much (Ergo: the young woman who was given $50,000 and she left the company to start her own company. Way to bite the hand that feeds you.)
How about you? Do you watch the show?
