My Front Yard Project in Pictures April 15, 2014 This is my front yard two years ago – before it started to die an active death and the foundation people whacked at the bushes. The drought played havoc with the grass and the shade from the Live Oak didn’t help anything grow there. Flash the Wonder Pooch, Sir Barksalot, Mouth of the South watching as work goes on in the front yard. A picture taken from the office window (a candid shot?) showing one of the dump trucks. Lots and lots of Colorado River rock. The pretty little agave outside my office window. Flash, checking out the scents and sights after the first day. Please note the 30 foot lead. Don’t ever make the mistake of holding something like that loosely in your hand. When the Wonder Pooch went after a squirrel I learned why they call it rope “burns”. Ow. After many days, many trucks, and much barking, the front yard is done. The larger rock is Colorado River rock and the other stuff is crushed granite. I like that it’s not glaring white like some other xeriscaping I’ve seen. The ONLY bad thing about the project is the number of neighbors who’ve parked in front of my house taking pictures.
