I watched a video (shown below) where the presenter offered the 5 things you’re going to hate about Scotland and 5 things you’ll love:
Bottom line, he lists:
Things to Hate About Scotland
1. It’s expensive
2. Public transportation doesn’t take you where you really want to go
3. The shops close at 6
4. Hard to find accommodations
5. The weather
Things to Love About Scotland
1. The people
5. Hiking and golfing
On my last trip to Scotland I rented a car and stayed about three weeks. I was so lost for so long it’s a wonder I found my way back to the United States. I remember thinking the Scottish people are Scotland’s greatest asset. One stormy night I was taken in by this couple who gave me their daughter’s bedroom, made sure my car had gas, and sent me on my way the next day with a hamper of goodies. I still exchange notes and cards with them.
I have to agree it’s expensive, but travel is. I didn’t rely on public transportation so that didn’t bother me. Nor did I care about the shops. Accommodations? Again, it’s the cost of things. The weather was unpredictable. One thing I’d add to his list of things to love: the atmosphere. There’s nothing like Scotland for atmosphere.
What do you think of his lists? What would you add or remove?
