The Lass Wore Black releases today. (Sounds of applause.)
I hope, if you get a chance, you’ll tell me what you think. Catriona was a fascinating character to me, one who wanted to change at the same time she resisted it with every fiber of her being.
Now, here’s a question for you. The Lass Wore Black marks the first _____for me. Can you guess what it is? The winner will get a copy of A Scandalous Scot and The Lass Wore Black.
Leave your guess in the comments. The first one to guess wins. And, if there are no correct guesses, I’ll leave more clues.
EDITED TO ADD:
DIANE SALLANS guessed the answer.
Catriona is my first blond heroine.

Congrats on the release Karen!
…. book of 2013
Thank you, Christine!
Sequel ?
Nope, done that before.
The first time youve used black in a title ?
I think you’re right, Raeline, but that’s not the answer I’m looking for.
Female heroine!?
No – and the answer is simple.
time Flash helped choose the cover
No, but a great guess.
January release
Nope, had those before.
Congratulations on release day! Is this your first story with a physically scarred heroine?
Great answer – and true, too, but not the one I’m looking for.
Oh, but you’re closer than anyone else, Maureen.
…..you didn’t have Leah and me to take it on tour! Ha-Ha!!
Congratulations, My Friend!!!
I know, you’ve fallen down on the job. But there’s still The Devil of Clan Sinclair in July.
And thank you, Conniekins. The pirates have been very hard to take this morning. So depressing when people want to steal your work.
First time to release in paperback not hardcover.
Congrats Karen.
No – and thank you, Rita!
First time you didn’t like the subject you were writing about.
That’s a great guess, Lisa, but not the one I was looking for.
You wrote about a Widow….
No, I’ve written oodles of widows.
WooHoo!!
Big congrats on your new release!
Have a FANTASTIC day Karen!!
I can’t wait to get my hands on THE LASS WORE BLACK.
I’m going to hide myself at home with your book and my chocolates and just enjoy!
A gal has to have a little fun now and again….
Thank you, Dalila!!! Enjoy!
First book written about a scared female heroine, all others have been male
Great guess but no. Close, though.
Is your heroine blind? Is that the first?
No, she isn’t blind.
We’re having a sunny day here in NJ to celebrate your release and the temp is supposed to be up to 60 tomorrow – thanks for sending some of that Texas air this way!
Not sure, but is it that your hero is a doctor?
He is a doctor and I’ve never written about a doctor in the past. Great guess, but not the answer I’m looking for.
Mental/emotional scars…..because of who her father was and what she went through growing up?
is it that she’s blonde?
I answered this once, so it may come through twice, but…
YES!!!!
You win!!!
Send me your address, Diane, and I’ll send you some goodies – a copy of both books, bookplates and a Karen Ranney book bag.
Catriona is the first heroine I’ve ever written who was a blond. Don’t know why; I’ve just stayed very far away from blonds.
Well, since we met Catriona in A SCANDALOUS SCOT as Jean’s sister and she was literally her polar opposite, that maybe it’s the first time you wrote about a heroine who was you didn’t like. : )
Happy Release Day, Karen!!
Woot!!
Congratulations – I was too late lol. It’s a gorgeous cover!
Congratulations!! Dont know why i didnt think of that since Im blonde, lol….Was thinking along the wrong track
LOL!! I had a feeling that was the right answer but Diane had already posted it.
Congrats Diane, you lucky, lucky girl!! : )
1st time you used sisters in two different books.
Well I guess I’m late to the party, darn!
Have a fantastic release day Karen!
I’m working today…filling in for my husband’s secretary who had to meet with a CPA over her husband’s business taxes (she’s his secretary too). I’ll be at Fred Meyer tonight checking for your book (buy 2 get 3rd one free) I can’t wait to get my hands on it =)
I’m too late. Congrats, Dianne!
